Hello all
Just found this site today and it looks interesting.
Am just starting to study for the 640-802. Long story but I don't have time for the two intermediate tests. And at the same time I'm studying for the CISSP. That being said, what book does everyone recommend to start? I worked in IT the past 10 years, second level helpdesk stuff, jr. network admin but nothing this complex. Any advice would be appreciated and thanks.

Re: Hello all
Welcome to Networkingboards.com
I'm actually studying for the CCENT right now. You can break up the CCNA into two exams: 640-822 (ICND1/CCENT), and the 640-816 (ICND2). The tests cost half as much also. So you wouldn't be spending more to break the material into 2 exams instead of a single larger exam.
I you have any questions, feel free to ask. I know I"m still learning, so I've got plenty more questions I'll be asking the forum in the coming weeks.
If you self studying (which I am), here's a few suggestions.
Ciscopress is the best resource for self study material thats reasonably priced. The CCNA self study library is very good, coupled with the CCNA simulator labs. I also have the CCNA Command Quick Reference and the flash cards.
BUT, you still need to get some real cisco equipment to tinker around with. Although you could get by with just a switch and a router, your much better off getting at least a couple switches and a couple routers.
Happy Trails.
